    Our Story

Having both grown up on family farms I guess you could say we have farming in our blood. After each successfully completely our MSc in horticulture at the University of Guelph in 2002 we both accepted jobs in the industry knowing that our hearts were really in owning and running our own business.  In 2006 we purchased a farm in Fisherville Ontario with a ½ acre greenhouse where we grew tomatoes for a few years.  In 2010 we branched out and started  growing a variety of vegetables that we still offer in our CSA harvest basket program as well as our ever popular roadside stand.  In 2016 and 2017 the “try something new” bug hit again and we started trialing fresh baby ginger along with a bit of turmeric.  With our growing knowledge about growing this historically tropical crop the Canadian Ginger Co. was born. Our CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) Program

Fisherville Greenhouses, Quality Produce Fresh from the Farm

We have been growing the finest grape and beefsteak tomatoes for the past 6 years. In 2010 we started growing a variety of other vegetables and now offer a summer and winter CSA harvest basket program.

Our farm focuses on growing a variety of quality produce with minimal environmental impact.

Nutritionally, fresh local produce is surpassed by nothing else.  Receiving fresh local vegetables on a weekly basis throughout the summer and a biweekly basis throughout the winter enables you to have healthy choices to offer your family year round.

Although we will do our best to provide you with a wide variety of vegetables, farming and weather can be unpredictable especially in winter.  This can on occasion mean that the value of your box may be less than you paid for.  However we will always try to grow more for you than you paid and a bountiful harvest can bring great reward.

A typical biweekly box may include:

    • Potatoes
    • Carrots
    • Sweet potatoes
    • Onions
    • Garlic
    • Fresh cut mixed salad greens
    • Kale
    • Spinach
    • Tomatoes*
    • Peppers*
    • Cucumbers*
      *available until December

    Ginger Tea

You can simply add thinly sliced ginger (the thinner the slice the more flavor it imposes) to your favourite cup of tea while you are steeping it. Then remove or leave in while you enjoy.

If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor you can use this simple recipe.

    • 1 tbsp of grated fresh ginger
    • 2 cups of water
    • Lemon and honey to taste

Put the water in a sauce pan and heat to boil. Remove from heat add grated ginger and cover pan. Allow to steep for 10 min. Strain out the ginger and enjoy with honey lemon or a cinnamon stick.

For a wonderful refreshing drink in the summer allow the tea to cool and put in the fridge. Serve over ice.
